Sandwiched between Ann Cleeves and Peter May


Yes, this sounds uncomfortable, but I was delighted to look at Amazon.Au and see my book, No Accounting for Death, snuggled between Sea Fever and The Lewis Trilogy.

Perhaps it won’t be there for long, but at least modern technology allows us to enjoy and capture these moments of triumph.

Yet, while this is a happy outcome and makes those hours of solitude seem worthwhile, it certainly isn’t the reason for writing.  Even in my genre, I hope I have something valuable to say, and it is this, alongside the pleasure of working out a plot and my characters’ reaction to events, which fuels my desire to keep going.

But I would like a little inspiration for my next Julie Lane novel …
