I always go to Chelsea Flower Show, and it is one of the highlights of my summer.
This year, however, I dithered before I bought my ticket … and almost left it too late. The best I could come up with for the day I wanted was an evening ticket, two and half hours from five thirty to eight, and it didn’t seem as if it would be long enough to enjoy everything.
True, there was no time for a glass of champagne or a picnic by the bandstand, but there were considerably fewer people than at the height of the day, and we got to see the exhibits more quickly without all the elbowing which usually goes on.
So, this is the way I’m going to proceed from now on – less hassle for less than half the usual price!
But what about the actual flowers? Well, they were breathtaking as usual, and my especial favourites this year were the Peter Rabbit Herb Garden and Hillier Nurseries’ wonderful drifts of white foxgloves and roses – simply gorgeous!
